The Fauns - Seven Hours
Lights LP coming out on Invada Records in December.
Compressing hours of bliss into a single, five-minute gush of feeling, Bristol’s The Fauns commandeer shoegaze’s more emphatic modes of communication for their loud and colossally beautiful new single. Guitar-vapoured plumes explode in ways that are unavoidably familiar yet unfailingly cathartic, as singer Alison Garner chronicles a day spent idling under the sun in too-hot-to-think weather. She finds in the aqueous mind-drift that follows that her thoughts always seem to lead back to a lover. “Seven Hours” is the salvo of fireworks framing that final image, celebrating and commemorating that holy moment when pure nirvana transfigures into pure Love.
❝ Right after “The Tree of Life” came out, I started hearing about strategies for my career. And I made a decision that I wasn’t going to do anything based on a strategy. If I don’t continue to challenge myself and risk failure, I have no business being an actor. I’m not an actor to be a personality. I want to see every part I take like a master class. And you know what? I’m going to fail sometimes. And that’s OK. Because when you fail, you learn more.❞
